WASHINGTON COUNTY <br />PUBLIC WORKS NORTH SHOP <br />Stillwater, MN <br />Construction of the newly improved Public Works North <br />Shop facility, which has been in existence for over 50 <br />years, included a 23,000 SF additional fleet services <br />building that houses all maintenance equipment, wash <br />bay, and storage mezzanine area and services over <br />450 county units from snowplow trucks to patrol cars; a <br />48,000 SF renovation of the existing fleet storage area <br />including bridge cranes, vehicle lifts, and lubrication <br />systems; 30,000 SF administrative space (office, kitchen, <br />and multiple meeting spaces) and signs and signals <br />shop that maintains and repairs over 10,000 traffic signs; <br />and site improvements including new parking lots, well, <br />main sanitary sewer, storm water treatment ponds, and <br />elimination of an on -site septic system. <br />THE PUBLIC WORKS NORTH SHOP PROJECT FINISHED <br />FOUR MONTHS EARLIER THAN EXPECTED, AND <br />ABOUT $700,000 UNDER THE ORIGINAL COST <br />THAT WAS BUDGETED. <br />D. SIMILAR PROJECTS <br />The building's most popular feature is the addition <br />of new public restrooms for those using the nearby <br />Gateway Trail. It also includes many new green <br />features, including 100 percent LED (light -emitting <br />diode) lighting; a heat -recovery system that uses warm <br />air from the building to pre -heat cold, fresh air in winter; <br />in -floor heating with high -efficiency boilers to melt snow <br />and ice from trucks; an energy -efficient roof, and an <br />indoor washroom to clean salt and sand from trucks so <br />the discarded water can be captured and treated. <br />The Public Works building was designed and built with <br />sustainability, flexibility, and future growth in mind. <br />Delivery Type: CMa <br />Services Provided: preconstruction and construction <br />Start: 5/15 I Scheduled Comp: 7/16 I Actual Comp: 7/16 <br />Const.
