PW CASE # ACQUISITION OF EASEMENTS FOR TRAIL ALONG ALPINE DRIVE By: Steven J. Jankowski, City Engineer Background: As part of the development agreement with Centex it is proposed to install an eight-foot bituminous trail along Alpine Drive from Roanoke Street to TH 47. This trail will be installed on the north side of Alpine Drive from Roanoke to Zuni street, and then along the south side of the road from Zuni to TH 47. Adequate right-of-way exists throughout the majority of this route, such that the trail can be placed without further acquisitions. However, for a distance of 1185 feet west of Zuni Street, there is five feet or less between the back of the curb and the southern right-of-way. Fifteen-foot permanent easement for trail should be acquired along with an addition al ten feet of temporary easement to accommodate the trail construction. Also, as part of the Centex plat (Highlands at River Park) the City has negotiated to have an overflow constructed from a pond located south of Alpine Drive and between Ute and Tonto Streets. The construction of the overflow will need an additional 10 feet of drainage and utility easement. Attached are sketches showing the necessary easements which need to be acquired from four properties: (a) (b) (c) (d) Radamacher Property (Bill's) Allina (the Clinic) Single family residence at 15252 Zuni Street NW Single family residence At 15271 Ute Street NW Recommendation: Staff is requesting that the Committee direct staff to prepare the necessary easement documents and authorize the City Manager to negotiate for the easement.
