Principal City Engineer Olson replied that all three options use high pressure sodium lights. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that he would like the light color to be uniform throughout the City. <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski replied that the color would be uniform. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman expressed concern that if they allow a more expensive light in one <br />area and a less expensive light in another area then the less expensive area will want the more <br />expensive lights. <br /> <br />Principal City Engineer Olson replied that staff expressed the same concern, but the subdivision <br />would be paying for the higher cost of the upgraded lights. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen felt that if the residents of a development are willing to pay for the <br />upgraded lights then they should be allowed to have them. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kurak stated that she did not think there would a problem with having upgraded <br />lights in certain developments within the City if they are willing to pay for them. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen inquired as to what the status was for the light at the intersection of <br />Alpine Drive and Armstrong Boulevard. <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski stated that staff has determined that a second light will be placed at the <br />intersection. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that a motion was made to install the light, but nothing has been done. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that staff needs to approach the homeowner regarding the <br />light in their yard because it is causing confusion as to the location of the intersection. <br /> <br />Principal City Engineer Olson noted that at this point staff is waiting to get the light ordered, but <br />if the Council directs staff to order the light tomorrow they will do so <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson stated that they need to consider the kids that will be walking to <br />school when the decide where to place street lights.
