Mr. Kapler reviewed pictures 1 ooking east o n Alpine <br />Drive noting a large tree on the fight hand side with a stop sign in front of the base of the tree. <br />The location of the stop sign meets the code, but thinks it might be outside the scope of what <br />people might be looking at. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman stated that there was a fatality last fall at the intersection and he <br />would be in favor of any improvements. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler inquired if the Council had any thought on "rumble <br />strips". He suggested hosting a neighborhood meeting to discuss the possibility. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen inquired if the intersection would warrant a four way stop. <br /> <br />Principal City Engineer Olson explained that in 2000 the Council recommended a warrant <br />analysis a nd t he City h as y et t o h ear t he results o f t hat. H e noted t hat h e would contact the <br />County regarding the study. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that if the intersection meets warrants he would want to <br />pursue that route. <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson stated that they should have warrant counts now that Alpine Drive has <br />been completed. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen requested that staff place the police trailer at the intersection tO do <br />some counts. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Kurak, seconded by Mayor Gamec, to recommend that the City <br />Council direct staff to contact the County regarding a warrant study of the intersection of Alpine <br />Drive and Ramsey Boulevard as well as discuss moving the stop sign with the County and <br />schedule a neighborhood meeting to discuss rumble strips. <br /> <br />Motion carded. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec and Councilmembers Kurak, Anderson, Hendriksen, <br />and Zimmerman Voting No: None. <br /> <br />2) Signalization of 167th Avenue NW and T.H. #47 <br /> <br />Principal City Engineer Olson stated that a traffic analysis was requested after a fatal accident at <br />the intersection, but unfortunately the intersection did not meet the requirements for <br />signalization.
