Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #19-251 RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING NOTICE OF INTENT TO TERMINATE THE CURRENT JOINT POWERS FIRE PROTECTION AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF RAMSEY AND THE CITY OF NOWTHEN, AND TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR, IN CONJUNCTION WITH RAMSEY MEMBERS OF THE JOINT POWERS BOARD, TO ENTER INTO NEGOTIATIONS TO DEVELOP A NEW AGREEMENT FOR SHARED FIRE SERVICES WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey and the City of Nowthen entered into a Joint Powers Fire Protection Agreement in 2007; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 7 (D) this Agreement may be terminated at any time for any reason by either Nowthen or Ramsey, provided the terminating party provides at least two years' written notice to the other party of its intent to terminate; and WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey desires to provide such notice of termination; and WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey is desirous of entering into negotiations to develop a new agreement for shared fire services. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: 1) That the Ramsey City Council hereby approves providing the City of Nowthen a written notice of its intent to terminate the current Joint Powers Fire Protection Agreement. 2) That the adoption of this resolution would begin the two year termination notice, as required in the Agreement, Section 7 (D). That the Ramsey City Council hereby authorizes the City Administrator, in conjunction with Ramsey members of the Joint Powers Board, to enter into negotiations to develop a new agreement for shared fire services. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember , and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: and the following voted against the same: and the following abstained:
