5) Winter Trail Maintenance 0 <br />Street Supervisor Reimer explained that the School District's transportation portion of the levy <br />did not pass so there will be children walking to school within a two miles. The City will be <br />meeting with the School to assure that all of the trails providing a walking route for students will <br />be maintained this winter. <br />Councilmember Hendriksen inquired if the City will need to purchase different equipment. <br />Street Supervisor Reimer replied that this year they will be using a bobcat with a blower on it, <br />but they will have to look at purchasing new equipment as part of the next budget. <br />6) Mailbox Cul-de-sac <br />Street Supervisor Reimer stated that they have had about 75 percent compliance with relocating <br />mailboxes. <br />7) Met Council Grant <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that it was brought to his attention that the City has received <br />an $800,000 Met Council grant. <br />Mayor Gamec explained that the City received a grant from Livable Communities in the amount <br />of $800,000 for the town center project for the extension of Sunwood Drive. <br />Councilmember Hendriksen inquired as to what the City's obligation was. <br />Mayor Gamec replied that if the City does nothing then they don't receive the money. <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that the $800,000 requires that the City construct Sunwood <br />Drive. <br />Mayor Gamec replied that that was correct. <br />Councilmember Hendriksen inquired if there was a limitation of how much of Sunwood Drive <br />would have to be constructed. <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler replied that he was not sure <br />Councilmember Hendriksen requested further information on the grant. <br />Councilmember Kurak inquired as to how the grant works with the developer of the property. <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that he wants to know how long the grant is good for, and <br />how much money does the City have to spend in order to receive the grant. 0 <br />Public Works Committee/November 19, 2002 <br />Page 14 of 15 <br />
