Background: <br /> <br />CONTRACTED TOWING SERVICES <br />FOR POLICE DEPARTMENT <br /> <br />by Chief James Way <br /> <br />The City of Ramsey Police Department has been contracting with North Star Towing <br />and Service Center, Inc. for towing services since May, 2003. North Star entered into a <br />one (1) year contract with the City. The contract was renewed in May, 2004 for an <br />additional year. Staff considers the services provided (towing, impounding and storage <br />of motor vehicles) by North Star to be excellent and continuing to contract with North <br />Star will best serve the City's needs. <br /> <br />North Star has conveyed to Staff that charges to the public for services rendered will be <br />pursuant to the fee schedule submitted with their original proposal, for the duration of a <br />two (2) year contract. In addition to providing towing services for police vehicles at no <br />charge, fire chief, fire marshal and duty officer vehicles will be towed at no charge. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends entering into a two (2) year contract agreement with <br />North Star Towing and Service Center, Inc., 833 North Street, Anoka, MN 55303 for <br />towing, impounding and storage of motor vehicles. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Motion by City Council to approve contracting for services with North Star Towing, per <br />the terms and conditions of the contract. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br /> <br />Police Chief Jim Way <br />City Administrator Jim Norman <br /> <br /> <br />
