PC CASE# 7~- <br /> <br />CONSIDER AUTHORIZATION TO HIRE PARKS MAINTENANCE WORKER <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />By: Givonna Reed, Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />As part of the 2005 budget, on December 14, 2004 the City Council authorized the creation <br />of two Public Works Parks Maintenance Worker positions. Staff'received authorization to <br />begin the recruitment process for the two positions. An internal recruitment process was <br />conducted; two applications were received and interviews were conducted. An external <br />recruitment process was conducted for the second position. Nine-teen interviews were <br />conducted and staff is recommending that Terry Byron, Jr. be hired as aParks Maintenance <br />Worker. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff' is recommending that the Personnel Committee grant authorization to hire Terry Byron, <br />Jr. to the position of Public Works Parks Maintenance Worker. Upon Council approval, Mr. <br />Byron will be hired at an hourly wage not to exceed $16.51 and would begin employment on <br />or after April 27, 2005. <br /> <br />Cmnmittee Action: <br /> <br />Motion recommending that staff be granted authorization to hire <br />Tcrry Byron as a Parks Maintenance Worker at an hourly wage not to exceed $16.51. Mr. <br />Byron will begin employment on or after April 27, 2005. This appointment will be <br />contingent upon successful completion of criminal and driver's license background checks, <br />reference checks, and passing a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
