Voting No: None. <br />7.05: Adopt Resolution #20-034 Approving the 2020 Ford Brook Playground Capital <br />Improvement Project <br />Parks and Assistant Public Works Superintendent Riverblood reviewed the staff report and <br />recommendation from the Park and Recreation Commission and staff to renovate the playground <br />as outlined within the case. <br />Councilmember Heinrich stated that this is a very exciting opportunity and thanked Parks and <br />Assistant Public Works Superintendent Riverblood for his efforts on this project. She <br />commented that the neighborhood is very excited for this project. She noted that there was <br />mention of a possible collaboration from Nowthen at the listening session and asked if that has <br />come forward in any way. She asked if the plans for Rum River Central have come forward. <br />Parks and Assistant Public Works Superintendent Riverblood stated Rum River Central Park has <br />ordered new play equipment that is scheduled for replacement in May. He stated that he will <br />continue to speak with Nowthen. He did not believe that the city wanted to share the cost but <br />perhaps they would contribute staff time for the installation of elements. <br />Motion by Councilmember Heinrich, seconded by Councilmember Specht, to Adopt Resolution <br />#20-034 Approving the 2020 Ford Brook Playground Renovation Capital Improvement Project <br />at a not -to -exceed amount of $75,000. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor LeTourneau, Councilmembers Heinrich, Specht, Kuzma, <br />Menth, Musgrove, and Riley. Voting No: None. <br />7.06: Review Adopt -a -Flag Project Concept <br />City Administrator Ulrich reviewed the staff report and recommendation to discuss the program <br />and provide consensus direction to staff to review, modify or stop consideration of such a <br />program. <br />Councilmember Kuzma asked if the poles would be lit at night. <br />City Administrator Ulrich confirmed that each pole would be lit and meet the requirements for <br />lighting. <br />Councilmember Riley stated that a number of years ago there was mention of putting banners on <br />the post but the stopping point at that time was the cost for the brackets. <br />City Administrator Ulrich commented that brackets for banners are more expensive than flags <br />and the cost for flags is also lower than custom banners. <br />City Council / February 24, 2020 <br />Page 7 of 9 <br />
