Mississippi Riverbank Stabilization — Two separate CWF <br />grants have been secured to assist landowners on the <br />Mississippi River with riverbank stabilization projects, <br />preferably using bioengineering techniques. The third, and possibly fourth, <br />project is scheduled to be installed in 2020. <br />Revetments on the Rum — CPL Funds have been secured <br />to assist riparian owners on the Rum River with stabilization <br />of mild to moderate bank erosion. Cedar tree revetments will <br />be used on at least 3600 linear feet to satisfy the grant over the next two to <br />three years. <br />Rum River Stabilization — Anoka County allocated funds to <br />match state grant funds to address riverbank erosion along <br />the Rum River. Two of three grant applications were <br />successful including CPL mentioned above. OHF is recommending just <br />under $1 M to help address the problem. ACD identified over $14M in need <br />during an extensive analysis of riverbank condition, so the process will span <br />many years and many rounds of grant applications. <br />Coon and Martin Lake Retrofits — The Sunrise River WMO CI E {N <br />allocated a large portion of their WBIF to install retrofits ria; WA T E RLA'S I) It <br />identified in the SRAs for Coon and Martin Lakes. ACD has `'` ``'" <br />been contracted to conduct outreach, prepare designs, and oversee <br />installation of several projects. <br />Targeted Shoreline Stewardship — District Capacity funds <br />have been allocated to supplement Sunrise River WMO <br />WBIF funding to reach out to shoreland landowners on <br />priority lakes and provide technical and financial assistance to install water <br />quality improvement projects. <br />FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE <br />Project Cost -Share — Financial assistance in the form of project cost -share <br />grants is sometimes available along with our technical services to <br />encourage projects that will have public benefits of water quality <br />improvement, flood reduction, or wildlife habitat enhancement. There are <br />several potential sources of funding, and ACD works with landowners to <br />coordinate the application process. ACD encourages performance -based <br />cost -share, which is an approach wherein funding sources contribute to a <br />project based on the benefits derived from the project.
