FCC/: ._~ <br /> <br />REPLACEMENT OF POLICE DEPARTMENT SQUAD EQUIPMENT <br /> By Sergeant Tim Dwyer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The Police Department is requesting the replacement of (2) Radar Units, (2) First Aid <br />Kits, and (1) Siren/Light Controller. These items will replace existing equipment and will <br />be placed in the 2001 Squad Cars, which are due in the first part of February. There is <br />sufficient funding in the Equipment Revolving Fund to cover these purchases. <br /> <br />The radar units in Squad # 303 and Squad # 301 have exceeded their life expectancy <br />and are in need of replacement. The police department currently utilizes KustOm Signal <br />radar units and the above are available factory direct at the sale price of $1,697.00 until <br />January 25, 2001. (Normally $ 2,080.00 ea). <br /> <br />(2) First Aid/Oxygen Kits, that were purchased in 1990, are in need of replacement due <br />to wear and tear. Verbal price quotes were obtained from PARR Medical and EMP Inc. <br />EMP sustains the best price at $ 89.95 each. <br /> <br />Currently the Unitrol Siren/Light Controller in Squad #305 is in need of replacement. <br />Verbal quotes were received from local Federal Signal vendor and found to be too high. <br />The police department would like to replace this unit with a Mastercom Siren Controller <br />@ $ 399.00 and a Switch Controller @ $ 69.99. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends committee review and motion to City Council to authorize the <br />purchase of: <br /> <br />(2) Kustom Signal Radar Units from Kustom Signal for a total of $ 3,424.00 including <br />shipping (Tax exempt); <br />(2) First Aid Kits from PARR Medical for a total of $191.60 (including tax and shipping); <br />(1) MasterCom Siren Controller and SW 300 Switch Box from Gall's Inc for a total of <br />$ 524.49 including shipping and tax. <br /> <br />All purchases would be funded from the Equipment Revolving Fund. The difference of <br />$ 4.43 for the FA Kits would be funded from the police medical line item account. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Motion by City Council to adopt Resolution # 01-01-XXXX , authorizing the purchase <br />the above mentioned equipment in the amount of $ 4,140.09, utilizing funds from the <br />Equipment Revolving Fund. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br /> <br />Chief of Police <br />City Administrator <br />Finance Officer <br /> <br /> <br />
