bc changed back. He did not think the sketch plan review was even within acceptable <br />parameters. He thought this development was about making money. He stated all of the little <br />pieces involved; seem to be maximizing what the developer can make on this. He stated his <br />primary concern is the safety in the neighborhood. <br /> <br />Mr. I lanborg stated it is not the change or development that is bothering them; it is the plan that <br />was put in place to protect them is being abandoned. He implored the Commission to not <br />recommend approval of the plan change and he opposed the sketch plan because it does not <br />fi)llow and is out of place. <br /> <br />Mr. Pctcrson corrected a few items for the Commission. He stated they are proposing to fill in a <br />limited amount of wetlands and the trees in the Gun Club are heavily diseased with Oak Wilt. <br />1 le stated they have gone in trying to save some of the trees. He stated they are proposing to <br />remove a significant noise pollution problem and the lead that has resulted from years of <br />shooting needs to be cleaned up. <br /> <br />Mr. Pcterson stated they have hired Wink & Associates, environmental specialists, who <br />in. vcstigatcd the entire site and submitted it along with a plan to clean it up, which the MPCA has <br />approved. The entire site has been evaluated. He stated the twenty-acre parcel is a site for his <br />parmer, [)on Hartel, who would like to live on that land with the possibility of future <br />development. He stated he lived across the street on thirty-two acres and did not think this will <br />always remain that way. <br /> <br />Mr. Augst stated the MPCA will not evaluate the site until there is a preliminary plat in place. <br /> <br />Mr. Pcterson thought they could develop their site without opening up Traprock. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Van Scoy, seconded by Commissioner Watson, to close the public <br />hearing. <br /> <br />Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Vice Chairperson Johnson, Commissioners Van Scoy, Watson, <br />Braucr, Lcvine, and Shepherd. Voting No: None.
