Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Jeffrey, Cook, Elvig, Olson, <br />and Strommen. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case//5: Adoption of Interim Policy for Proposed Land Use Changes <br /> <br />Community Development Director Trudgeon reviewed that for the past month, the City Council <br />mad stal-t' have been working on crafting an interim policy regarding the consideration of <br />Comprehensive Plan Amendments until such time that the Comprehensive Plan Update is <br />r:omplcted. At the March 22',d and March 29th work sessions, staff worked on draft of the <br />t)roposcd policy. At the completion of the March 29th work session, the Council directed staff to <br />bring the proposed policy forward to a Council meeting for formal adoption. The policy, as <br />draflcd, states the Comprehensive Plan Amendments will be reviewed at time of preliminary plat <br />c~onsideration. This will allow for the Planning Commission and City Council to make a more <br />it~lbrmed decision on the request since the needed information will be available at time of <br />preliminary plat. <br /> <br />f iommunity Development Director Trudgeon indicated the Planning Commission reviewed the <br />draft interim policy. They stated that they were encouraged to see some guidelines being <br />:~doptcd, but were concerned about the length it will take to complete the Comprehensive Plan <br />l_lpdate. They urged that the Comprehensive Plan Update be completed as quickly as possible. <br />ifc advised staff' recommends approval of the proposed Interim Policy for Proposed Land Use <br />( ~hanges~ <br /> <br />C(mncihnember Strommen stated she felt very strongly about the need for this Interim Policy. <br /> <br />~otion by Councilmember Strommen, seconded by Councilmember Elvig, to adopt resolution <br />f/05-04-110, approving the Interim Policy for Proposed Land Use Changes. <br /> <br />Mr)!ion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Strommen, Elvig, Cook, Jeffrey, <br />Olson, and Pearson. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />}"urther discussion: Councilmember Strommen suggested the timeline for the Comprehensive <br />['lan and the steps that will need to be undertaken be reviewed at a future work session to be sure <br />the City is moving along at the necessary pace. Mayor Gamec noted there are three cities holding <br />hearings ~br their 2008 Comprehensive Plan. Community Development Trudgeon indicated <br />~<ome thought has been given to try to fulfill the 2008 requirements with the Comprehensive Plan <br />l Jpdatc',.
