City Administrator Norman stated he does not know if this is the time to hold back. The City has <br />a message to get out. There are a lot of wonderful things happening in this community and they <br />should let people know what is going on. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jeffrey stated this is a small price to pay for a great communication tool. <br /> <br />Councilmember Strommen indicated she is in favor of going forward with this, but she would <br />like a projection regarding the Council Contingency fund. If they have to pull back she would <br />rather take a second look at the trips planned for the urban village tours. The public relations <br />would be of more value. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec inquired about the budget allocated for the Ramsey Resident. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson replied the budget is in the range of $20,000 to $30,000. <br />IJowever, staffs time does not get allocated into this amount. <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman reviewed the proposal fi'om Goff & Howard, Inc. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson expressed concern regarding who would implement the plan <br />lhe firm puts together to market the City. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec commented it may be more beneficial to hire an employee to deal with <br />communications. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson suggested the possibility of contracting with a consultant to <br />assist with writing a portion of the newsletter. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec noted this would almost need to be done by an internal staff person. He suggested <br />the possibility of hiring a part time public relations employee. They may also want to consider <br />obtaining an intern from St. Cloud University. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Kapler indicated the prioritization of the newsletter articles should be <br />communicated to those responsible for writing articles. <br /> <br />Councihnember Olson suggested the newsletter expand on the calendar to include upcoming <br />events in the community. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson suggested every department could be required to submit a <br />new fi'csh article for the newsletter each time it goes out. <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman indicated he will go back to Goff & Howard, Inc. and ask for <br />refinement to the proposal. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cook stated the public relations needs to go beyond the newsletter.
