Commissioner Watson noted that there are also a lot of residents who don't want to be locked
into staying rural.

Commissioner Johnson stated that unless they take the position that nothing else should happen
in Ramsey, they have to accept that there is going to be change.

Ms. Adank inquired if the trade off to get a river crossing is higher density housing in the City.

Commissioner Johnson replied that there is no trade off for the river crossing. He explained that
there are reasons to have some higher density housing in the City and that is why they are trying
to site those types of development in the appropriate locations. The Comprehensive Plan was put
together after a lot of thought and people will disagree with certain aspects.

Community Development Director Frolik stated that cities are required to develop a
Comprehensive Plan to plan for orderly development. She noted that residents can review a copy
of the Draft Comprehensive Plan at City Hall.

Greg Becker, 15430 Nowthen Boulevard, Ramsey, requested that property located within the
boundaries of County Road 5, Sunfish Lake Boulevard and 153rd Avenue be identified as
medium density. He explained that the property is owned by himself and is approximately 30
acres. He is proposing to construct a patio style senior townhome development.

Motion by Chairperson Nixt, seconded by Commissioner Johnson, to table the case until August
7, 2001.

Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Nixt, Commissioners Johnson, Reeve, Kociscak, and
Watson. Voting No: None.

Case #8: Monthly Status Report

Noted.

Case #9: Zoning Bulletin

Noted.

COMMISSION INPUT

1) Land Use Planning Workshop

ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Chairperson Nixt, seconded by Commissioner Johnson, to adjourn the meeting.

Planning Commission/July 12, 2001
