Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION #20-165 <br />RESOLUTION ACCEPTING CHANGE ORDER #1 FOR VARIOLITE STREET <br />RECONSTRUCTION, IMPROVEMENT PROJECT #20-01 <br />WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey proposes to reconstruct Variolite Street between Alpine <br />Drive and 173rd Avenue in 2020; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Ramsey City Council Resolution #19-219 adopted September <br />10, 2019, the City Council approved and authorized Staff to execute proposals from Hakanson <br />Anderson and Associates for required topographic survey in the amount of $12,800, and from <br />Northern Technologies Inc. for required geotechnical work in the amount of $29,750; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Ramsey City Council Resolution #19-285 adopted December <br />10, 2019, the City Council ordered the City Engineer to prepare a Feasibility Report for <br />Improvement Project #20-01, Variolite Street Reconstruction; and <br />WHEREAS, the Ramsey Public Works Committee directed Staff to explore options for <br />reducing speeds and improving pedestrian accommodations along Variolite Street; and <br />WHEREAS, one of the primary purposes of a Feasibility Report is to explore alternative <br />design options and provide recommendations on which options to construct; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Ramsey City Council Resolution #20-071 adopted April 14, <br />2020, the City Council accepted the Feasibility Report and ordered the City Engineer to prepare <br />plans and specifications for Improvement Project #20-01, Variolite Street Reconstruction; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Ramsey City Council Resolution #20-089 adopted May 12, <br />2020, the City Council approved plans and specifications and authorized advertisements for bids <br />for said improvements; and <br />WHEREAS, bids were advertised in the Anoka Union Herald and in Finance and <br />Commerce on May 15 and May 22, 2020; and <br />WHEREAS, bids were received, opened, and tabulated on June 5, 2020, and the <br />following bids were found to comply with the advertisement for bids; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Ramsey City Council Resolution #20-124 adopted June 9, <br />2020, Park Construction Company of Minneapolis, Minnesota, was awarded the construction <br />contract in the amount of $2,811,859.49 for said improvements in accordance with the approved <br />plans and specifications and advertisement for bids, including Alternate Bid A and Alternate Bid <br />B; and <br />Resolution #20-165 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
