He stated that he wouldn't <br />name the tenants yet for Town Center. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cook asked when they would be giving out the names. <br /> <br />Mr. Feges stated within the next 30 days. He stated that Jim Deal is going to have his new <br />corporate office there, and he is willing to acquire more property and wants to invest more on <br />bringing larger buildings in and more tenants. Mr. Feges stated that he has introduced a new <br />opportunity potential of a 150,000-180,000 square foot building for the Life Learning <br />Opportunity Center, and Mr. Deal may want to be the owner of that building to bring in those <br />tenants. <br /> <br />The Council discussed the plans. <br /> <br />3) Telecommunications & Fiber Optics Technology ('05 Strategy Session) <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson stated this topic had come up at the strategic planning <br />session this past February, and there had been several of them who had attended a conference <br />regarding this item in late March. They had talked about the different projects that are happening <br />throughout the nation, so they got background regarding what other communities had done. She <br />stated that if it's the Council's desire to explore this idea on a broader basis, staff would like to <br />go out and do some research to prepare an RFP. She stated they need some expertise in the <br />telecommunications industry to help out with that, and there are plenty of companies willing to <br />do that. She stated that Comcast sent out a letter a couple of months ago letting them know what <br />the terms of the franchising is in the State of Minnesota, so that will proceed. She asked if <br />anyone had any thoughts about the kind of scope they would want them to look at. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated they would want to look at Town Center. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig stated that they would need to have some sort of policy. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson stated that they would be meeting with a couple of dif£erent <br />companies. <br /> <br />4) Other Business <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec suggested looking into putting flags on Highway 47 for Memorial Day, Labor <br />Day, and the Fourth of July. <br /> <br />-36- <br /> <br />City Council Workshop / April 19, 2005 <br /> Page 2 of 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
