I b)Authorize Present Environmental Policy Task Force Members to Serve through a Transition Period Councihnember Cook indicated the recommendation of the Personnel Committee is to authorize thc present members of the Environmental Policy Task Force to continue serving through June 1~t. }lc explained the Environmental Policy Task Force is in the final process of completing a wetland-buffering ordinance, which is on the Planning Commission agenda next week, and will then come before the City Council. 'There is also an Environmental Task Force scheduled for May f'. The Personnel Committee recommends that the members of the present Task Force be involved in the next month of planning and development of the ordinance and assist in the transition period to the new Board. 2) Authorization to Hire a Patrol Officer Tabled to the next City Council meeting. 3) Accept Resignation of a Community Service Officer and Grant Authorization to [dire a Community Service Officer Assistant City Administrator Nelson indicated the Community Service Officer, Daniel Godlewski, resigned from his position effective April 19, 2005. Staff is recommending that Mr. ([odlewski's resignation be accepted. Staff further recommends that the City Council grant authorization to hire Christopher Curtis from the existing eligibility list. With Council approval Mr. Curtis would begin employment on May 9, 2005, The Personnel Committee recommended that thc Council grant the requested authorization. Councihnember Strommen stated she appreciates the Committee's consideratiOn for continuity of' the Task Force in finishing up the wetland buffer ordinance. This will provide the new members with a transition period and provide the Task Force members with finalization on the completed project. Councilmember Cook stated there were ten applicants interviewed to serve on the Board, and they were all exceptional interviews. The Board that was completed with these seven members will be very diverse in understanding and background, and will serve the City well. Mayor Gamec asked if the description of this Board includes a requirement that one member should be ti'om the Park Board. Councilmen~ber Cook replied this was discussed with the forming of the Task Force, and the dc:sire was to have one member from the Park Board and one member from Planning and Zoning. Planning and Zoning declined that request. There is currently not a requirement relating to this, but Jon Olds is a member of the Park Board and the Task Force and will be serving on the new City Council/April 26, 2005 Page 21 of 23 -59-
