These were proposed in order to protect and preserve some trees. Regarding Ms. Shumway's <br />concerns about estimated costs, the costs will be estimates until there is an assessment hearing, at <br />whida point there will be an actual dollar amount. If the actual cost goes over 25 percent of the <br />c,~timatcs the prqject will need to be reinitiated. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamcc stated in most cases the engineering estimated costs have been pretty well in line <br />wilh thc actual bid costs, or actually higher. <br /> <br />.Iohn Ritccy, 7521 - 164t~' Lane NW, stated his concern is that he has 14 trees in front of his <br />property along the boulevard. He asked if the trees will be impacted by this project and <br />t~xplaincd the trees stop about 20 cars per year from coming into his yard. He stated he is also <br />concerned about the drainage ditch. <br /> <br />Assistant Public Works Olson suggested staff work with Mr. Ritcey. He indicated the impact to <br />thc trees can be roughly located, but an actual design for the project cannot be completed until <br />ibc 60<tay period is over. <br /> <br />l)ell l lowc, 16471 Sapphire Street, expressed concern that the drainage seems to be pooling in <br />his lot (.m the comer of 164m Avenue and Sapphire Street. <br /> <br />Assistaut Public Works Director Olson indicated if the amount of drainage will be increased <br />there will need to be consideration of purchasing some property for drainage purposes. This is <br />not includecl in the cost estimates, but it is a necessary cost and may be a storm drainage utility <br />l'ce expense. He explained the drainage patterns will not be increased, but the drainage will be <br />increased, <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Strommen, to close the public <br />hearing. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Elvig, Strommen, Cook, Olson, <br />and Pearson. VotingNo: None. Absent: Councilmember Jeffrey. <br /> <br />'i'hc public hearing was closed at 7:53 p.m. <br /> <br />Council Business <br /> <br />Mayor (Jamec called the regular City Council meeting back to order at 7:53 p.m. <br /> <br />t;ouncilmember Elvig requested staff visit the project area and evaluate the concerns that were <br />addressed tonight. <br /> <br />Assistant Public Works Director Olson indicated the drainage situation needs to be looked at in <br />greater detail, and property irons need to be located with the survey crew.
