CASE # q <br /> <br />CONSIDER AUTHORIZATION OF IMPROVEMENT PROJECT #05-23 <br />EBONY STREET AND UTILTY IMPROVEMENTS <br /> BETWEEN 137TM AVENUE AND RIVERDALE DRIVE <br /> By: Steven J. Jankowski, City Engineer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />ri'he City received a petition for various street and utility improvements on september 15, <br />2{)04. The attached ['easibility study outlining the project details, costs, and financing was <br />provided to each property owner and a public hearing was held on March 22, 2005. The <br />sixty day waiting period specified by Section 4.60.05 Sub. 1 of City Code for projects of <br />this nature has now passed and the Council may now act to order the preparation of plans <br />and specifications for the work outlined in the feasibility study. <br /> <br />Tltc improvements include looping the watermain between 137th Avenue and Riverdale <br />I)rive to improve fire flow capabilities and water system reliability, narrowing the <br />roadway which is excessively wide, providing a bituminous overlay on the street because <br />of' the poor condition of the pavement, adding concrete curb and'gutter, and a five foot <br />sidewalk along the east side of the roadway. Portions of the project are to be financed <br />through special assessments to adjacent properties.
