item 23 instead of here.)

Temporary noises and odors may occur from operating heavy equipment for construction activities.
Noises common to construction will be generated. Equipment will include trucks, backhoes, graders, Compactors,
bobcats, cranes, loaders, compressors, and possibly de-watering pumps. Construction activities will be conducted in
co~formance with the City's noise ordinance. Equipment used in the daily construction operations w/Il be muffled.
Noise from construction activities will be limited to 7 am to 10 pm weekdays, with weekend hours limited to 9 am
to 9 pm.
Dust will be controlled by periodic cleanup of the construction site and by limiting the amount of soil disturbance
at any given time. Dust will also be controlled through the establishment of permanent vegetative cover.
Consideration will he given to suppression of airborne dust by application of waterif significant dust generation
occurs during site grading.
Odors may also be generated from construction equipment exhaust. -_ _
As in any sanitary sewer system, there is.potential for odors, to .form during operation of the proposed systerh.
Hydmget~ sulfide has the potential to form in sewage material under anaerobic conditions, and can produce a
rotten-egg odorl particularly where flow turbulence releases gas from solution in the wastewater.-The addition of
ehemicals to the sanitary system to suppress growth of the odor-causing bacteria is one option if hydrogen sulfide
be. comes a problem in the [uture. Filtering air ventilated from the sewer system through a biofilter is another
method of controlling odors, as is utilization of packaged carbon filtration systems.
Odor problems are not expected to result from the trunk sewer. The project is similar to many in the metropolitan
area. It is primarily a gravity system where slopes are mild and turbulence is not expected to be a problem.
The nearest sensitive receptors are the residential homes in the nearby existing housing developments. Average
expost~re thnes are estimated to be approximately four to eight weeks.

Are any of the following resources on or in proximity-to the site?

If yes, describe the resource and identify any project-related impacts on the resource.
Describe any measures to minimize or avoid adverse impacts.
Arc hacological, historical or architectural resources.'? [] No

[] Yes

No historic properties were identi fled in a search of the Minnesota Archaeological Inventory and Historic
Structures Inventory for the search area requested. Two archaeological sites were identified: Site number
2 l AN0136, a 2 acre site located in Township 32, Range 25, Section 19, QUarter section E-SW-NW-NE; and Site
number 2IANu, a l0 acre site located in Township 32, Range 25, Section 19, Quarter section SW-SE-NE-SW.
Prime ~r unique farmlands or land within an agricultural preserve? [] No

[] Yes
Thert~ are areas of Dickman sandy loam soils, 0 to 2% slopes (DNA) that are listed on the Anoka Prime and Other
Important Farmland List as a farmland o£ statewide importance..

Desigmrted parks, recreation areas or trails? [] No ·
[] Yes
There are proposed parks and recreational [~acilities owned and operated by the City of Ramsey within the project
area. Although the trunk sewer extension does no~: pass directly through any parks, it may cross areas of existing
and proposed trails. Permanent impacts to these afhenities are not anticipated as the Project will be placed below
grade. However, temporary indirect impacts (such as noise, dust, and general disruption caused by construction
machinery) may occur to users of the facilities during construction of the Project. These impacts are expected to be

-481-
