Chairperson Elvig stated they would like to eventually. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated it's a safety issue for the children. <br /> <br />Randy Backous, 14148 Argon Street, stated he lives right at that 'T,' and all should understand <br />the traffic problem they have. He stated he appreciates them studying it. He stated it cuts down <br />the traffic flow from Dysprosium, and that is the big problem. However, as soon as you open up <br />to the end of Argon to the townhome development, it will be a freeway. <br /> <br />Chairperson Elvig stated they've got a baseline established now, so he can watch what happens as <br />they start to adjust the traffic. He asked if any of these numbers surprised anybody. <br /> <br />Public Works Supervisor Reimer stated that the one on Argon did, but that might be a false <br />reading. He stated it is a little too close to the intersection, and it should be backed up. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Olson, seconded by Chairperson Elvig, to recommend to City Council <br />that staff be directed to contact the townhouse association to request the temporary opening of <br />the Argon Street gate which would be done in conjunction with the temporary closure of 142nd <br />Avenue east of Argon Street and the barricading of Barium Street north of CR 116, and further <br />recommend that staff prepare and submit a public involvement process to Council for <br />consideration. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Elvig, Councilmember Olson, and Mayor Gamec. <br />Voting No: None. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE INPUT <br /> <br />1) Updates to the Improvements on the Public Works Campus <br /> <br />Public Works Supervisor Reimer stated they had got their bid on the two buildings, and one was <br />to reside in one of the maintenance shops, and the other one was the temporary office space. He <br />stated the temporary office came in at $79,000. He stated that is for a 28 x 64. The other one <br />was to re-side the big building, and that came in lower. He stated this had been bid a few years <br />ago, which was $180,000, and the low bid had come in at $163,000, and that is the product they <br />are recommending. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Kapler stated from 50 feet away, it looks like concrete panels. <br /> <br />Public Works Supervisor Reimer stated the roof would be a standing C roof, and they are going <br />to tear off the old roof.
