Chairperson Elvig asked about the doors.

Public Works Supervisor Reimer stated they were all new, and they have to put in a service door
for the Fire Code.

Chairperson Elvig stated they had the budget set on that.

Public Works Director Kapler stated that with the way the siding came in, they should be well
below, even though the temporary building came in a little higher.

2) Signage at TH 47 and County Road 5 Trott Brook Greenway

Public Works Director Kapler stated they had got a request from somebody in Ramsey that they
would like to see us identifying the Trout Brook on both Highway 47 and County Road 5. He
stated he had told the individual that one of them is a state road and one is a county road, so they
just have to work through them. He stated what he wanted to do was just run that one by the
committee because they might be setting a precedent as far as identifying those type of features
within their city, and if the committee and ultimately the counsel doesn't have any problem with
that, they'll pursue permission with the county and state to put up a couple of signs.

Motion by Mayor Gamec, seconded by Chairperson Olson, to recommend that the City Council
pursue permission for signs on Ford Brook and Trout Brook with the County and State.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Elvig, Mayor Gamec, and Councilmember Olson.
Voting No: None.

3) Intersection of County Roads 27 and 47.

Public Works Director Kapler stated they have received calls regarding this intersection, and there
had been a tragic accident last night. He stated there have been cases of drivers not realizing the
road terminates because there is a long driveway, and they are running through the stop sign. He
stated that last night two young men had come across and were struck by a car going north.

Assistant Director of Public Works Olson stated that it's deceiving there, and the road was
hooked hard to the right so you have a better sight line. He stated if you don't see that, it's like
the last 50 feet on the road that goes off.

Public Works Director Kapler asked what the County's response was.

Public Works Supervisor Reimer stated they thought the signage was proper.

Mayor Gamec stated he had been driving that area since the complaints came in, and thinks you
get mesmerized driving and just keep right on going.

Public Works Committee / April 19, 2005
