<br />CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at the <br />Ramsey Municipal Center, 7550 Sunwood Drive NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: Mayor John LeTourneau <br /> Councilmember Mark Kuzma <br /> Councilmember Jeff Menth <br /> Councilmember Debra Musgrove <br />Councilmember Chris Riley <br />Councilmember Dan Specht <br /> <br />Members Absent: None <br /> <br />Also Present: City Administrator Kurtis Ulrich <br />Finance Director Diana Lund <br />Police Captain Timothy Frankfurth <br /> Public Works Superintendent Grant Riemer <br />Deputy City Administrator Timothy Gladhill <br />City Engineer Bruce Westby <br />1. CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor LeTourneau called the regular meeting of the Ramsey City Council to order at 7:00 p.m., <br />followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by Mayor LeTourneau. <br />2. PRESENTATION <br />2.01: Proclamation Declaring October 2020 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month <br /> <br />Mayor LeTourneau stated that at the request of the Alexandra House and the Purple Lights <br />Initiative, the City Council will consider a resolution on its Consent Agenda proclaiming October <br />2020 Domestic Violence Awareness Month. He read aloud the proposed proclamation. He <br />noted that the City will be lighting portions of the City Municipal Center with purple lights to <br />help raise awareness of October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. <br /> <br />Tina Bronson, Alexandra House, thanked the Council. She stated that it may seem like a small <br />thing to proclaim October as Domestic Violence Awareness month, but it identifies another <br />partnership the organization has made. She stated that while there has been progress in making <br />people more aware of domestic awareness, it needs to continue. She stated that in July and <br />August there was a 45 percent increase in the number of requests for orders of protection, and <br />from this time last year a 145 percent increase in requests for orders of protection. She stated <br />that they have received over 2,500 individual requests for service from Alexandra House in the <br />City Council / September 22, 2020 <br />Page 2 of 14 <br /> <br />
