The City of Ramsey has bonded to construct public improvements within the boundaries <br />of this TIF District. The City of Ramsey has agreed to provide City utilities to T & G Land, Inc. <br />by July of 2001. In order to satisfy this commitment, construction of 141st Avenue must <br />commence as soon as possible. In order for construction to commence, the concrete building <br />located on the south boundary of the old L.W. Makens property must be demolished. Kenko, <br />Inc. has verbally agreed to vacate the building by April 1, 2001, and move its equipment to the <br />southern portion of Lot 2, Block 1, Gateway North Industrial Park No. 5. Plans and <br />specifications for the demolition have been completed by Hakanson Anderson and Braun Intertec <br />has performed an asbestos hazardous abatement survey. Notice had been published ten days <br />prior to accepting bids. Bids have been received and opened on March 26, 2001. A total of five <br />bids were received. The bids ranged from $43,200 to $78,375. Staff recommended that the <br />project be awarded to Wickenhauser Excavating in the amount of $43,200.00. <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson inquired if staff was relatively sure that all the bidders understood <br />what they were bidding on since there is such a large variation in the bid amount. <br /> <br />City Engineer Olson explained that staff held a conference on the site with the bidders and toured <br />the building. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Hendriksen, seconded by Councilmember Anderson, to adoPt <br />Resolution #01-03-167 receiving bids and awarding contract for improvement project #01-18, <br />Building Demolition. <br /> <br />Motion carried.
