Mark served as the lead urban planner for <br /> ▪ American Planning Association a study that will provide a clear policy direction for industrial land uses <br /> Urban Land Institute and industrial sector employment within the City of Minneapolis.The <br /> Congress for the New Urbanism study will evaluate the long-term viability of existing industrial uses and <br /> • Minnesota Design Team propose a range of industrial uses to retain for the future. In addition to <br /> 1000 Friends of Minnesota land use,the study will provide a comprehensive examination of current <br /> Sensible Land Use Coalition and future industrial sector employment within the City of Minneapolis <br /> in relation to national and regional trends. <br /> • Wright County Northeast Quadrant Land Use Plan—Wright County, <br /> • Olsson Professional Experience Minnesota. Mark served as project manager and lead urban planner <br /> 2006 to Present for the preparation of the Wright County Land Use Plan Update for the <br /> Northeast Quadrant,which is the fastest growing section of the County. <br /> This plan will serve as a model for planning activities in the rest of the <br /> Years of Professional Experience County, and incorporates future land-use alternatives, preservation of <br /> 16 Years agriculture and natural areas,innovative and practical planning, and <br /> the development of constructive relationships between the County, <br /> Townships and Cities in the Northeast Quadrant. <br /> • Traditional Neighborhood Development Ordinance— Mt. Horeb <br /> and Dane County,Wisconsin. The Traditional Neighborhood <br /> Development(TND)was designated to work in towns with limited <br /> administrative capabilities by providing the basic design building <br /> blocks for a developer. Responsibilities included field reconnaissance <br /> and analysis of existing and model ordinances; community workshop <br /> facilitation and presentation to planning commission; and electronically <br /> assembled and contributed content to final/model TND ordinance. <br /> • PolyMet/NorthMet Socioeconomic Impact Analysis—Babbitt, <br /> Minnesota. Mark managed the preparation of a socioeconomic <br /> impact analysis for a 4,162-acre non-ferrous metal mining project near <br /> the Mesabi Iron Range.The impact analysis assessed the cumulative <br /> employment, economic and social impacts of PolyMet's NorthMet <br /> Project along with the implementation of several other major industrial <br /> projects on East Range communities—both short term through <br /> construction, and long term with employment growth for the region. <br /> The results of this study are being incorporated into the required <br /> Environmental Impact Statement(EIS)for PolyMet Mining Corp. <br /> • Comprehensive Plan Update—Gem Lake, Minnesota.As project <br /> manager, Mark assisted the City of Gem Lake to prepare for the update <br /> to its comprehensive plan.
