5) 2002 Capital Equipment Schedule <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that Case #5 dealt with the purchase of an aerial ladder truck <br />for the Fire Department. The Committee directed staff to research further information and report <br />back. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler noted that two issues were brought up during the <br />Finance Committee. One was if any other cities charge a fee to businesses that exceed height <br />restrictions and secondly how do cities with tall buildings deal with height apparatus. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman inquired if the $500,000 was a reasonable figure for the cost of the <br />truck. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Kapler replied yes. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen inquired if the City would currently have to call a neighboring City <br />for assistance if there was a fire in a building over 35 feet. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works/Fire ChiefKapler replied yes. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen requested that staff have the response time from each of the <br />neighboring cities available at the next meeting.
