Commissioner Brauer stated the reason he asks is because it seems the business could make a <br />~w changes and continue to operate from that location. He indicated this kind of puts the <br />Planning Commission in a tough position. <br /> <br />Mr. Guzzo indicated he has been learning about the kinds of things they would need to do to <br />comply since they were notified by the City there was a problem. He noted the big boom truck <br />has not been at his home since they learned about the issue. <br /> <br />Chairperson Nixt indicated the problem he has is that by Mr. Guzzo's own admission they want <br />i,o grow the company, which will further impact the neighbors. <br /> <br />Mr. Guzzo stated he has no intention of hiring more employees, and they feel they can grow the <br />company with what they have now. <br /> <br />Chairperson Nixt argued that growth means more volume, or longer hours, or something. <br /> <br />Commissioner Shepherd asked what would stop the possibility that another Gander Mountain j ob <br />would come in, which is what created the late hours and weekends, etc. <br /> <br />Mr. Guzzo stated they would take another Gander Mountain contract, but they also learned from <br />that. He indicated they would not move up the delivery date, and with the new boom truck they <br />c()uld pick up the steel themselves. <br /> <br />Commissioner Van Scoy asked what kind of screening is on the property. <br /> <br />Mr~ Guzzo indicated he has some screening, but is looking for suggestions. He stated there is <br />room by the building where there is a wall to park vehicles, but there is no tar there now, <br />i~,dicating he has not had time to install it since the pole building was built last fall. <br /> <br />M'r. Villeneuve stated at one time in his life he worked for Leroy Sign Company, and he knows <br />what it takes to build signs. He indicated that work does not go with a residential area. <br /> <br />Motion by Chairperson Nixt, seconded by Commissioner Levine to close the public hearing at <br />7:37 p.m. <br /> <br />Motio~ carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Nixt, Commissioners Levine, Brauer, Shepherd, Van <br /> and Watson. Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioner Johnson. <br /> <br />Commission Business <br /> <br />Chairperson Nixt stated he does not want to put a company out of business, and is inclined to <br />give them a six month Interim Use Permit to give them time to relocate.
