Mayor Gamcc stated Street Supervisor Reimer and the crew deserve a lot of accolades for their
work. There are many residents that have mentioned how friendly the crew is.

l'ublic Works Director Kapler stated one goal of Public Works staff is to keep a small town
atmosphere and he will pass Mayor Gamec's comments on.

No action required.

2) Update on Septic Tank Pumper Station

This item was tabled.

3) Receive Petition from Alpaca Estates Residents

Public Works Director Kapler stated on March 31, 2005, staff received a petition from Mrs.
Kathryn Richter that expressed opposition to the extension of City sewer and water into the
Alpaca Estates subdivision. Mrs. Richter had indicated this petition was initiated as a result of
discussions by Mr. Peter Tremaine and his neighbors regarding the extension of sewer and water
lo his property. At this time there is no information regarding the details of Mr. Tremaine's
proposal. The motion made was to recommend that the City Council accept the petition from
Alpaca Estates residents.

Councilmember Elvig stated there was a large discussion with the residents regarding this issue.
They were under the impression they would be forced to hook up. After the ordinance was
explained to the residents it was more of a question and answer session, and they seemed relieved
by the time they left.

Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Jeffrey, to ratify the
recommendation of the Public Works Committee in Case No. 3 and to accept the petition from
Alpaca Estates residents.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Elvig, Jeffrey, Cook, Olson,
l'carson, and Strommen. Voting No: None.

4) Consider Authorizing Sidewalk Repairs in the Ponds Subdivision

Public Works Director Kapler indicated the representative of The Ponds Subdivision would like
to make an appeal to the Council. The City Administrator prefers that this case go back to the
l'ublic Works Committee. He explained the sidewalks in this subdivision were made at a four-
inch thickness, rather than the required six-inch thickness. Staff had determined a solution to the
situation, and the representative of the Ponds Subdivision will be making an appeal.

Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Olson, to send the consideration
of authorizing sidewalk repairs in the Ponds Subdivision back to the Public Works Committee.

City Council/May 10, 2005
