Mrs. Richter had indicated this petition was initiated as a result of
discussions by Mr. Peter Tremaine and his neighbors regarding the extension of sewer and water
lo his property. At this time there is no information regarding the details of Mr. Tremaine's
proposal. The motion made was to recommend that the City Council accept the petition from
Alpaca Estates residents.

Councilmember Elvig stated there was a large discussion with the residents regarding this issue.
They were under the impression they would be forced to hook up. After the ordinance was
explained to the residents it was more of a question and answer session, and they seemed relieved
by the time they left.

Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Jeffrey, to ratify the
recommendation of the Public Works Committee in Case No. 3 and to accept the petition from
Alpaca Estates residents.

Motion carried. The City Administrator prefers that this case go back to the
l'ublic Works Committee. He explained the sidewalks in this subdivision were made at a four-
inch thickness, rather than the required six-inch thickness. Staff had determined a solution to the
situation, and the representative of the Ponds Subdivision will be making an appeal.

Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Olson, to send the consideration
of authorizing sidewalk repairs in the Ponds Subdivision back to the Public Works Committee.

City Council/May 10, 2005
