Connection*to Park and Trai! <br />Amenities Outside. of Ramsey <br /> <br />.lust as it is important to plan the <br />location of existing and future trails <br />m Ramsey, it is important to~ <br />recognize the location of existing <br />and £utute trails in adjacent <br />conm~mfities. <br /> <br />This plan illustrates that there are more than 20 miles of e,,dsting trails and <br />over 70 miles of proposed trails throughout Ramsey, with over 88,000 acres <br />of recreation destinations adjacent to the City that may be accessible by trail. <br /> <br />Anoka, Andover, Oak Grove, Burns Toxvnship, Elk River, Ostego, Dayton, <br />and Champlin are cides are in immediate proximity to Ramse)~ In addition, the <br />Counties of Anoka, Sherburne and Hennepin implement and manage park <br />and trail systems xvithin the 88,000 acres referenced above. <br /> <br />The foiloxving are the specific connection points tO the communities reference <br />herein: <br /> <br />Anoka- Southeast <br /> Trails link the City of Ramsey with Anoka at the Rum River, as xvell <br /> as at T.H. #47, Disprosium Avenue and also paralleling the Mississippi <br /> River at T.H. 10 and 169. An opportunity may ex/st along Ramsey <br /> and Anoka's McKinley. <br /> <br />Dayton - South <br /> On the southern border of Ramsey and the Ivlississippi River is an <br /> opportuni .ty to provide connection with the proposed bridge crossing. <br /> <br />Elk River - West <br /> Along the four mile border with Elk River are several opportunities <br /> for trail connections associated with road alignments. In addition, <br /> there is the potential extention of the trail along the Mississippi River <br /> and that associated with the Trott Brook corridor. <br /> <br />Burns Township - North <br /> The slx border with Burns Township provides many future <br /> opportunities, again associated with road alignments. Further <br /> coordination with Burns township should occur related to offroad <br /> connections. <br /> <br />Andover - East <br /> Connections utilize e.,dsting bridges at County Road 7 and Bunker <br /> Lake Boulevard, however any future crossings of the Rum River may <br /> yield additional opportunities. <br /> <br /> <br />
