Figure VI.3

Separate

Bike and Pedestrian Trails Along an Urban Section
Road with Boulevard Separation

In some cases, urban roads with curb and gutter are four lane and undivided,
such as road improvements around the Town Center.. Whether a nexv extension
of urban roads is planned or road reconstruction, the time may be tight for
adding any needed trail connections.

Four lane roads generally carry more vehicular ttafftc a some of the two lane
roads in Ramsey that serve as better connecting points to destinations. Often,
these points of d,estination are also desired points of tr,41 connection. If trail
user volumes are expected to be high, a separation of bicycle/skater traffic
from pedestrian traffic is advised, with a clear zone of 5' between the two
trails. A boulevard separation between the roadway and the trail is also strongly
advised.
