CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION
Topic Report: Old Town Hall
By: It¢idi A. Nelson, Asst. City Administrator

Background:

Staff has recently been contacted by representatives from Landmark Bank regarding the
Old Town I Iall site. Landmark Bank is interested in utilizing the building for additional
office space and has provided a proposal to the City for consideration. A letter from
Kevin Whelan and Connie Nelson with Landmark Bank is attached; they will be in
attcndance during work session for the discussion.

As Council will recall, the issue of the Old Town Hall has come before Council on
several occasions as well as before the EDA to consider options for the future use of the
site and building. When last presented to Council at a work session on June 8th, 2004,
Council consensus was to research options to move the building off the site to a park or
other pubic property in Ramsey and complete the needed restoration/improvements for
usc by the community as meeting space and/or historical center. It was discussed that a
portion of the land could then be utilized for the construction of a public street to the rear
of the site and a portion of the land could be sold for a private use. Staff is seeking
direction regarding the proposal from Landmark and the future use of the building and
the site.

Action Statement:

Based upon discussion.

CCWS: 06/14/2005
