Commissioner Johnson stated that stating the purpose of an ordinance is always good, but he sees
Subd 2 as Staff' direction versus the necessity of writing an ordinance to say what the City is
going to do.

Mr. Gordon stated it gets back to the basis of functions and values.

Commissioner Johnson agreed, but stated that he would prefer to direct Staff to develop
classifications that can be put in the ordinance, not provide that direction in the ordinance.

Mr. Gordon stated this is also a trigger. He indicated if there is a classification that gets outdated
this is a trigger to update it.

Chairperson Nixt commented that if it stays he would consider some language changes from
shall to may, etc. tte indicated he does not want to get into the position of the City not
complying with its own ordinance.

Commissioner Johnson asked if this has been sent to Chris Lord at the Soil and Water
Conservation District.

StalT indicated it has been sent to them, but not specifically to Chris Lord. He indicated it was
sent to lhcir wetland specialist, and he was unsure if comments had been received.

Commissioner Johnson suggested that Staff solicit comments from the Soil and Water
Conservation District staff. He indicated he has great respect for their work.

Commissioner Brauer stated right now they are in a difficult position in the city because they
want to get thc ordinance on the books, but have not had the time or money to inventory
wetlands.

OTHER COMMISSION BUSINESS

There was none.

Ai)JOURNMENT

Motion by Commissioner Johnson, seconded by Commissioner Brauer, to adjourn the meeting.

Motion Carried.
