Project Summary
The City o f Ramsey is proposing to construct an extension of the tnmk sanitary sewer system to serve the City o f
Ramsey's sanitary sewer sub-districts RLS-1, RLS-3, RLS-4, and Ri'through R14. The project will consist of the
construction of approximately 64,000 LF of 8-inch, 19,000 LF of 10-inch, 20,000 LF of 18-inch and 5,000 of 30-
inch sanitary sewer pipe. The initial average daily flows for the.service area includes Brookfield and Sweetbay
Ridge developments at an estimated 0.12 million gallons per day (MGD).

b. Complete Proje~:t Description
The City of Ramsey is proposing to construct an extension of the trunk sanitary sewer system to serve a portion of
the Rum River sanitary sewer district. A concept la,out for the proposed improvements is shown in Figure 1 and
Figure 2. Initally, only the Brookfield and SWeetbay Ridge developments will be connected to the collection
system. Ultimately, the remaining sanitary sewer sub-districts, currently undeveloped or served by individual on-
site systems, will also be served.
The daily average design flow for the Brookfield and Sw, eetbay Ridge developments is 0.12 MGD and the total
design average flow for the service area is 1.94 MGD. The design peak flow for the districts served is 5.6 MGD.
While the extension of the sewer itself will not change the land use, thi,,s.extension will serve the proposed
Sweetbay Ridge and Brookfi¢!d developments and other future developments in the Rum River district. The
extension will also serve e.x!stin, g residents with on-site septic systems and th?se systems become non-compliant.
The main equipment for grading the project Will be bulldozers, compactors, backhoes and other standard earth-
moving equipment. The sequence of construction will follow standard practices for conventional land modification
for sewer extensions. The construction activities W'i. ll begin with the installation of erosion control measures,
followed by overall site grading and the installation of the sewer pipe and ending with the establishment ora
permanent vegetative cover.
