AUTItORIZE COMMUNICATIONS CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF <br />NEW RAMSEY MUNICIPAL CENTER AND RELATED ITEMS <br /> By: Heidi A. Nelson, Asst. City Administrator <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />On May 24th, 2005, the City Council authorized 28 contracts related to the construction of the new <br />Municipal Ccntcr. During that meeting, it was discussed with Council that two remaining contracts <br />would need to be authorized at future meetings; those contracts being for Communications (iow <br />voltagc cabling for phone/network) and Metal Roofing. The Communications contract is now ready to <br />bc awarded. The Metal Roofing section of the project is currently in the process of being re-bid as <br />authorized by Council on May 24th. <br /> <br />Tbc bid date for the technology related contracts was May 23rd, 2005; the following bids were received <br />lbr ComlnUlfications: <br /> <br />Bluc l,ine Systems <br />Structured Network Solutions <br />Parsons Electric <br />Metro Communications Services <br /> <br /> $98,000 <br />$108,443 <br />$119,899 <br />$151,446 <br /> <br />Staff is rccommcnding awarding the contract to Blue Line Systems. A letter is attached from Kevin <br />Pikkarainc of I,OGIS detailing the bid results and recommendation. The budget number for this <br />contract was $95,000; however the security and cable-casting contracts came in lower than predicted, <br />thcrctbre technology costs are still within the predicted budget. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> Authorize contract for communications for new Ramsey Municipal Center construction with <br />thc lbllowing contractor for the stated amount: <br /> <br />Bluc Linc Systems <br /> <br />$98,000 <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Authorize Resolution No. 05-XX, Authorizing Communications Contract for New Ramsey <br />Municipal Center. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br />City Administrator <br />Finance Officer <br /> <br />CC: 06/14/20115 <br /> <br /> <br />
