She stated two acres is required to have metal siding, and increased
height to 22 feet.

Commissioner Van Scoy stated he would rather go the other way and make everything required
on 2 ½ acre lots, which is a standard lot size in Ramsey.

Motion by Commissioner Johnson, seconded by Commissioner Levine, to recommend the City
Council adopt an Ordinance to amend Section 9.11.02 (Accessory Structures), an ordinance to
amend Section 9.20.11 (R-1 Residential District), and an ordinance to amend Section 8.21
(Swimming I>ool and Spa Permit).

Commissioner Van Scoy stated he wanted to express his opposition to the zoning permit, as he
does not sec why it is necessary.

Assistant Community Development Director Frolik indicated it does not happen often, but
sometimes when there are things that do not require a build]ng permit people do not realize there
arc setbacks and other requirements they have to follow, so by requiring a nominal permit Staff
can advise residents of the requirements.

Planning Commission/May 5, 2005
