4) Request for Change Order to Improvement Project #00-21, 143rd Avenue NW Street and Utility Construction The Finance Committee recommended authorizing Erickson Construction to install wood fiber blanket on the ponding and boulevard areas in the project to help establish the turf sooner and minimize the erosion potential of the exposed soil, in an amount not to exceed $12,000. Motion by Councilmember Hendriksen, seconded by Councilmember Kurak, to ratify the recommendations of the Finance Committee for Cases 1-4. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Hendriksen, Kurak, Anderson, and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. Case #19: Report from Personnel Committee The Personnel Committee met on June 26, 2001 and discussed the following items: 1) Consider Ending Probationary Period of Principal Planner Adopt Resolution #01-06-241A ending probationary period for Principal Planner Patrick Trudgeon and granting him the status of regular full-time employee effective June 4, 2001. 2) Authorize Hiring of Public Works Secretary The Committee recommended hiring Kim Saltros for the position of Public Works Secretary at a starting salary of $28,003, contingent upon successful completion of background checks, a physical examination and drug screen and a six-month probationary period. 3) Authorize Hiring of Patrol Officer The Personnel Committee recommended hiring Ben Rossum for the position of full-time Patrol Officer, contingent on the successful completion of background checks, a psychological examination, and an employment physical. In accordance with the Union contract, Mr. Rossum's starting 2001 salary would be $34,699, and he would serve a one-year probationary period. Motion by Mayor Gamec, seconded by Councilmember Anderson, to ratify the recommendations of the Personnel Committee for Cases 1-3. Motion carried.
