Councilmember Hendriksen suggested extending the moratorium and then consider the options. <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich stated that in the past the City had a limitation of three liquor licenses, <br />and then increased that number to five and then after a study group researched the information <br />the limits were dropped. He stated that the Council could extend the moratorium for another 90- <br />days. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Hendriksen, seconded by Councilmember Anderson, to extend the <br />moratorium on any new off-sale liquor license for 90 days. <br /> <br />Further discussion:: Councilmember Anderson stated that there are restrictions as to where <br />liquor stores can be placed and she felt that daycare centers should be included as a site that <br />liquor stores cannot be located next to City Attorney Goodrich stated that a previous Council <br />appointed one or two Councilmembers and a citizen group to review the issue and inquired if the <br />Council wished to do the same. Councilmember Hendriksen replied that he felt that that would <br />be good way to put together further information. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Hendriksen, Anderson, Kurak, <br />and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />MAYOR AND COUNCIL INPUT <br /> <br />1) Schedule Work Session/Reschedule Public Works Committee Meeting <br /> <br />The Public Works Committee was rescheduled to Monday July 16, 2001, at 5:30 p.m. and a <br />work session was scheduled to follow the meeting. <br /> <br />2) North Star Corridor Funding <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman inquired as to the status of the North Star corridor funding. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec replied that the State did not approve funding, but Mr. Oberstar is looking for <br />more funds for the North Star Corridor. The study will continue until the next legislative <br />session. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that his main concern has to do with the ongoing operating <br />expenses and the statement made that there was no funding source identified. The North Star <br />Corridor Commission had been asked if they had considered the benefiting cities being <br />responsible for those costs and they replied that that had been a consideration, but no decision <br /> <br />City Council/July 10, 2001 <br />Page 13 of 14 <br /> <br /> <br />
