New drainage and utility easements have been dedicated <br />around the perimeter of all new lot lines. It takes a public hearing and Council ordinance to <br />eliminate the underlying drainage and utility easements that existed as part of Rademacher <br />Addition. The easements to be vacated are on the former south and east property lines of Lot 1, <br />Block 1, Rademacher Addition. The underlying easement on the east property line now lies <br />within the platted road right of way for the northerly extension of Cobalt Street. <br /> <br />Citizen Input <br /> <br />There was none. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Hendriksen, seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman, to close the <br />public hearing. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Hendriksen, Zimmerman, <br />Anderson, and Kurak. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />The public hearing closed at 7:29 p.m. <br /> <br />Council Business <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the regular City Council meeting back to order at 7:29 p.m. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Hendriksen, seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman, to introduce <br />an ordinance to vacate certain drainage and utility easements in Orchard Hills. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Hendriksen, Zimmerman, <br />Anderson, and Kurak. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #3: Award Contract for Pumphouse No. 3 (Improvement Project #00-29) <br /> <br />City Engineer Olson stated that Wellhouse No. 3 is proposed to be constructed approximately <br />1,000 feet due south of Well No. 4 in the City's western well field located in Section 28. Plans <br />and Specifications have been prepared by Bolton & Menk, Inc. and bids were opened on <br />Wednesday, September 19, 2001. Bids were received from five contractors and ranged from <br />$437,600 to $524,000. Rice Lake Construction Group provided the low base bid. Included in <br />the 2001 Capital Improvements Program is an item to install a generator in the wellhouse to <br />retain power though periods of power outages and provide cost savings to the City of Ramsey <br />during periods of high-energy demands. The generator was bid as an alternate to the base bid <br />and ranged from $82,000 to $100,000. The bid from Rice Lake Construction Group for the <br />generator was $100,000. If the alternate bid for the generator is considered, as it was last year, <br />the low bid was provided by Magney Construction, Inc. Magney Construction, Inc. has the <br />necessary experience to successfully complete the wellhouse project.
