FC CASE <br /> <br />DISCUSSION AND DIRECTION FOR CONSULTING SERVICES <br /> By: James E. Norman, City Administrator <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The City has a number of consulting service contracts that are either in need of additional <br />funding, or possible additional consulting services that the City does not currently use, but have <br />recently discussed for consideration. <br /> <br />Goff & Howard. The City has used Goff & Howard for public relation services, <br />however, City Council has give direction to use them more frequently, and their services <br />require more funding than was originally authorized. <br /> <br />The Tinklenberg Group. The City has been using the Tinklenberg Group for over two <br />years under time specific contract extensions. The Tinklenberg Group is requesting an <br />on-going retainer relationship with the City. <br /> <br />l'aul Silk Film Buying. Silk is a Ramsey resident who has 30 years of experience in the <br />motion picture business which includes studio distribution of motion pictures and <br />representing theater owners. Staff would like to use Mr. Silk's consulting services when <br />negotiating for a cinema project. <br /> <br />I)JR Architects. The City selected DJR to assist with the Community Center/Fitness <br />Center project. Staff would also like to utilize D JR services with the exterior design of <br />the cinema project. Staff has not brought a contract for Council approval. <br /> <br />Iluman Resources Studies. Staff would like to discuss the possibility of initiating an <br />Organizational Study and Compensation Study during 2005, rather than wait for the 2006 <br />budget year. <br /> <br />Staff would like to have a general discussion concerning consulting services as well as discuss <br />budgetary constraints. <br /> <br />Staff' will ask for formal authorization on each individual consulting service following the result <br />of the discussion. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Based upon discussion. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br /> <br />City Administrator <br />Finance Officer <br /> <br />CC: 06/28/t)5 <br /> <br />-401 - <br /> <br /> <br />
