FC CASE # AUTI'IORIZE CONTRACT FOR REPAIRS TO FIRE STATION No. 1 By: Dean Kapler, Fire Chief I~ack~4round: On February 21,2005 Fire Station #1 sustained damage from a Firefighters personal vehicle while rcsponding to an incident. Repairs were delayed until the regular construction season to avoid cold weather charges. SlatT is recommending to enter into a contract with the S&P Construction of St. Paul, Inc. who arc general contractors. The bidding process produced a base contract cost of $29,758.75. This amount includes repair of all damage, inside and out. StalT is also rccommcnding that the main front door be replaced during this process. The current door can not be locked from the inside and still allow exiting without manually unlocking and re- locking lhc door. A new door equipped with a panic bar will allow locking and also exiting wilhout mannal "un Iockiug". The cost of this additional work including installation is $8119 if done in conjunction with the rest of the repairs. Stal'l' is working with the LMCIT to recover the costs of repairs from the Firefighters auto insurance. Fun(ling: StalT rccommcnds fimding for the repairs to be taken from the cities insurance fund and the replacement of the main door to be taken from the equipment replacement fund.
