In all instances the applicants maintain the liability for damages <br />resulting from any and all activities. <br />Subp. 2. Dike dimensions. Dike top width shall not be less than six feet. Side slopes shall not <br />be steeper than 3:1, except where slope stability analysis and slope erosion control can justify <br />steeper slopes. No organic soil or material shall be allowed in the foundation of the fill of dikes. <br />Subp. 3. Vegetative cover and riprap. A protective cover of grasses shall be established on <br />all exposed surfaces of the dike. Riprap shall be used where required for control of erosion. <br />Subp. 4. Interior drainage. Dikes shall have provisions for interior drainage. Dikes constructed <br />across legal drains or public ditch systems shall require the approval of the appropriate local authority <br />(watershed district, county, city, etc.). <br />Statutory Authority: MS s 103G.105; 103G.315; 105.415; 105.49; 471.59 <br />Published Electronically: June 11, 2008 <br />6115.1370 FARMSTEAD DIKING. <br />Within an existing dike system, ring dikes around individual farmsteads shall not require dike <br />permits if they are not provided with tiebacks to existing roadways or dikes. Ring dikes provided <br />with tiebacks shall be considered part of the overall dike system and will be required to secure <br />diking permits. Outside the dike system there shall be no limitations on tiebacks of dikes around <br />farmsteads.
