ORDINANCE #21-08 <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />AN AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 10 OF THE CITY CODE: <br />"ANIMALS," <br />VACATING THE REQUIREMENT OF DOG LICENSING AND REQUIRING <br />IDENTIFICATION TAGS. ADDING CLARIFYING LANGUAGE TO DANGEROUS <br />DOGS LIABILITY INSURANCE. <br />The City of Ramsey ordains: <br />SECTION 1. PURPOSE <br />The purpose of this Ordinance is to eliminate the requirement that all dogs in the city be <br />registered and licensed with the city. This ordinance will also modify language pertaining to <br />identification tags. Identification tags will be required for all dogs in public spaces. Either <br />physical tags or microchips are acceptable. Added clarifying language pertaining to dangerous <br />dogs and liability insurance. <br />SECTION 2. AUTHORITY <br />Pursuant to authority granted by Minnesota Statutes, Section 471.633, the City of Ramsey hereby <br />regulates animals within City limits. <br />SECTION 3. AMENDMENT TO CITY CODE SECTION 10-57 <br />(Underline is added language, strikeout is deleted language.) <br />Sec. 10 57. Individual dog licensing. <br />All dogs kept, harbored, or maintained in the city shall be licensed and registered. Applications <br />for license shall be made to the city administrator, or his designee, upon forms provided by the <br />city administrator. Said application shall require the owner, among other information required by <br />the city administrator, to supply the name, age, predominant breed, sex, color and markings of <br />each dog sought to be licensed. In addition, when the applicant or owner has been convicted of <br />violation of section 10 65 relative to the dog sought to be licensed, the application shall require <br />proof of public liability insurance in the minimum amount of $300,000.00. Upon submission of <br />the application and a certificate evidencing compliance with the terms and provisions of section <br />10-59, relating to vaccination for rabics, and upon payment of a fee as established by ordinance, <br />the city administrator or his designee shall issue a license. Said license will be concurrent with a <br />valid rabics vaccination for up to three years. <br />
