ACCEPT PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND ORDER BIDS <br />FOR IMPROVEMENT PROJECT//05-23 <br /> EBONY STREET AND UTILITY IMPROVEMENTS <br /> By Steven Jankowski, City Engineer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />Property owners petitioned the City in 2004 for the extension of sewer and water utilities <br />along a segment of Ebony Street between 137th Avenue and Riverdale Drive. In addition <br />to providing sewer and water service to the southern 400 feet of this street segment <br />improvements associated with this project include: looping the watermain between 137th <br />Avenue and Riverdale Drive to improve fire flow capabilities and water system <br />reliability; narrowing the roadway which is excessively wide; providing a bituminous <br />overlay on the street because of the poor condition of the pavement; and adding concrete <br />curb and gutter; and adding a five foot sidewalk on the east side of the street. <br /> <br />The City council ordered that plans and specifications be prepared for this work on May <br />24, 2005. Portions of these improvements will be financed through assessment to the <br />benefited property owners in accordance with City Code and Minnesota Statues Chapter . <br />429. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends the adoption of resolution #05-07-XXX accepting plans and <br />specifications and ordering the solicitation of bids for this project. <br /> <br />Action: <br /> <br />Motion to adopt resolution #05-07-XXX accepting plans and specifications and ordering <br />the solicitation of bids for this project. <br /> <br />Reviewed By: <br /> <br />City Engineer <br />Assistant Director of Public Works <br />Finance Officer <br />Director of Public Works <br /> <br />-277- <br /> <br /> <br />
