PC, Z <br /> <br />AUTHORIZATION TO HIRE A PATROL OFFICER <br /> <br />By: Givonna Reed, Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />B. ackground <br /> <br />On March 22, 2005, staff received authorization to begin the recruitment process to hire a <br />patrol officer. This recruitment is in response to Jim Balabon's retirement, which was <br />effective June 30, 2005. Staff has completed the Patrol Officer recruitment which <br />included 19 first interviews and four second interviews. <br /> <br />With Council approval, staff would like .authorization to hire the selected candidate <br />effective Monday, August 1, 2005. This appointment would be contingent upon <br />successful completion of all required background-checks and the pre-employment <br />physical and drug. screen and psychological exam. The selected candidate would be hired <br />at a wage not to exceed $19.05 per hour. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the City Council grant authorization to hire the selected candidate <br />effective August 1, 2005 at a wage not to exceed $19.05 per hour. A resolution ratifying <br />the appointment of the individual selected will be presented at the July 26, 2005 City Council <br />meeting. <br /> <br />Committee Action <br /> <br />Recommend to the City Council that staff be granted authorization to hire the Selected <br />candidate effective August 1, 2005 at a wage not to exceed $19.05 per hour.
