A preconstruction meeting has been scheduled for April 28, at which time the
Contractor will inform the City of their proposed work plan and schedule as discussed in more detail below.
However, the Contractor has informed the City that they plan to begin construction on April 29, starting with
reclaiming the existing pavement. This work involves using a pavement reclaiming machine to grind the existing
pavement in place, along with a portion of the underlying aggregate base. This reclaimed material is placed back
onto the street for use as new aggregate base under the new pavement. To prepare for this work, the Contractor
will place construction notice signs in the project area, and will start mobilizing equipment on site. Construction
should be substantially complete by September 3, 2021, weather permitting.
During the preconstruction meeting, the Contractor will provide information to the City including contact
information for themselves and their subcontractors, a preliminary project schedule, their hours and methods of
construction, their plans for traffic control, and other construction related information. This information will be
shared with you in another project update letter following the preconstruction meeting. This information will also
be added to the project web page on the City of Ramsey's website at http://cityoframsey.com/808/Riverdale-
Drive-Reconstruction-IP-21-00. This project web page will remain your best source of receiving updated
information on this project throughout construction, though project update letters will be mailed periodically to
keep you informed of the project's progress, and of upcoming work that could impact access to your property.
During construction, access to driveways and streets may be partially or fully restricted during normal working
hours. Access may also be partially or fully restricted up to 7 days where concrete curb and gutter is being installed
along driveway aprons, and at concrete driveway aprons that need to be replaced. This will allow the new concrete
section adequate time to cure. During these times, access will be maintained to the front of properties to allow
walk in access. If you have special access needs during construction, please contact us as soon as possible so we
can work to accommodate your needs.
Construction sequencing typically involves placing construction signs, installing silt fence and other sediment
control practices, reclaiming of pavement, installing or repairing utilities, grading boulevards and streets,
replacing concrete curb and gutter as needed, replacing concrete driveway aprons and walks as needed, grading
and compacting the new aggregate base, then placing new bituminous pavement on streets and driveways and
establishing turf. Specific dates for each construction operation will depend on the weather and other factors that
may be out of the City's or the Contractor's control. However, the goal is to complete construction as quickly as
practical once construction begins to minimize impacts to property owners and the traveling public.
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
It is our mission to work together to responsibly grow our convnunity, and to provide quality, cost-effective and efficient government services.
