(KUI), provided information to the City
including contact information, a materials suppliers list, dates of upcoming construction work, their anticipated
hours and methods of construction, their traffic control plans, and other general construction information. The
purpose of this letter is to share the most pertinent information with you. This infoimation can also be found on
the project web page at http://www.cityoframsey.com/808/Riverdale-Drive-Reconstruction-IP-21-00. This
project web page will remain your best source of updated information throughout construction of this project.
Project Background
City Improvement Project #21-00 proposes to reconstruct Riverdale Drive from Feldspar Street to approximately
200 feet west of Sunfish Lake Boulevard. The segment of Riverdale Drive east to Tungsten Street is proposed to
be reconstructed in 2024 - 2025 when the new Sunfish Lake Boulevard interchange is constructed as part of the
Ramsey Gateway Highway 10 improvements. The City will continue to patch the east end of Riverdale Drive
until it is reconstructed with the new interchange. Property owners will not be assessed for these improvements.
The segment of Riverdale Drive from Feldspar Street to Sunfish Lake Boulevard is currently 44-feet wide. This
project will reduce the width of Riverdale Drive to 34-feet, which will be accomplished by removing two existing
6-foot wide on -street bike lanes on the west end of Riverdale Drive, as well as the on -street parking lane along the
north side of Riverdale Drive. On -street parking will instead be provided in a new 8-foot wide parking lane along
the south side of Riverdale Drive. Travel lanes will be 12-feet wide, with another 2-feet provided along the north
side to better accommodate trucks and mitigate the loss of useable pavement due to snow and ice accumulations.
The existing 10-foot wide off-street bituminous trail north of Riverdale Drive that teii iinates approximately 300
feet east of Dolomite Street will be extended to Feldspar Street with this project. This trail will allow pedestrians
and bicyclists to use an off-street trail separated from traffic by a 6 to 8-foot wide boulevard. This boulevard will
also better accommodate snow storage and reduce drifting of snow along the corridor as currently occurs due to
the existing narrow (0 to 2-foot wide) boulevard.
A trunk storm sewer line will be constructed under Riverdale Drive with this project to better convey stormwater
runoff from the Dolomite Street intersection to the Mississippi River. A pollution control structure will also be
installed to remove pollutants from the stormwater runoff before it is discharged into the river.
Municipal utilities (water supply and sanitary sewer) are in good operating condition and repairs are not required
with this project. However, individual water supply lines that serve properties along Riverdale Drive will be
exposed and inspected at the property lines in an attempt to confirm that the service lines were properly installed
and will not require repairs during the anticipated 60-year design life of these improvements.
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
It is our mission to work together to responsibly grow our conununity, and to provide quality, cost-effective and efficient government services.
