provided for in the WCA when development occurs in the vicinity of wetlands. Through <br />the implementation of this Section, the City seeks to accomplish the following purposes: <br /> <br />a. To satisfy the requirements of the WCA as it may be amended and, <br /> thereby achieve no net loss of wetlands within the City; <br /> <br />To preserve the natural character of the landscape through the <br />maintenance of wetland ecosystems;~ <br /> <br />c. To preserve scenic viewsheds; <br /> <br />d. To establish greenway c,6ri:~ in <br /> appropriate upland <br /> <br />combined with <br /> <br />e. To ensure water quality <br /> recharge ground water and <br /> retain sediment and <br /> water runoff before it discharges <br /> thus avoiding the cont~m~hation and <br /> features; <br /> <br />f. To provide <br /> diversity of both plantand:~nimal <br /> <br />g. To put in'PlaCe:~a means <br /> in order to determine <br /> <br /> to <br />of ~0~d water, to <br />nutrients from surface <br />lakes and streams, <br />of these water <br /> <br />)orr the maintenance of <br /> the City; and <br /> <br /> existing wetlands in the City <br /> policies are effective in <br />development. This monitoring <br /> <br />maintaining wetland <br />should include but is not limited to water quality measures, flora <br />analysis and biological surveys. <br /> <br /> Subd,. 2. It is the p~ose,,pf this Section to assure the general health, <br />safety, and welfare of the residen~i';~u~h preservation and conservation of wetlands <br />and sound management Of development by: <br /> <br />a. Conducting an inventory of all natural and constructed wetlands within <br /> the City; <br /> <br />Developing a system of management classifications for wetlands <br />within the City based on wetland functions and values, through the <br />application of an assessment method accepted under the WCA; <br /> <br />Preparing and maintaining a comprehensive set of official maps to be <br />reviewed and adopted by the City Council, identifying the location and <br />management classifications of all inventoried wetlands within the City; <br /> <br />Page 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
