Ms. Badiuger indicated two bids are recommended for rejection in the Metal Roofing category. <br />The bid from Brent Anderson Associates is recommended for rejection due to failure to <br />acknowledge addenda. The bid from Diversified Coatings, Inc. is recommended for rejection <br />due to t'hilure to provide bid security. The next lowest bidder was M.G. McGrath Company. She <br />contacted this company to see why they bid so high, and was informed this is where the bid needs <br />to be. Brent Anderson and Associates and M.G. McGrath both indicated they would re-bid this <br />project it' it is put out for a re-bid. She advised the recommendation is to award the bid to M.G. <br />McGrath or re-bid this section of the project. She indicated M.G. McGrath is very well qualified. <br /> <br />Councihnember Elvig asked if the bids would still be sealed if this section were to be re-bid. <br /> <br />Ms. Badinger replied the bids are public knowledge. The requirements could be tightened up if <br />this section were to be re-bid, such as requiring a minimum of eight years experience. <br /> <br />Ms. Badinger reviewed the following information with the Council: <br />· Municipal Center Bid Alternates and Deducts <br />' Municipal Center Budget <br /> Sections remaining to be bid <br /> · :. Cabling/Installation Contract <br /> · :. Cablecast & A/V Contract <br /> · :. Security Systems Contract <br /> <br />Finance Officer Lund indicated the amount to be bonded is $19,100,000. She noted the fiscal <br />study in April included a bond amount of $19, 535,000. <br /> <br />The consensus of the Council was to reject all bids for the Metal Roofing and Related Sheet <br />Metal section of the project, and to re-bid this section with the specifications to be tightened <br />regarding years of experience. <br /> <br />Bill Baxley of BKV Group reviewed the bid alternates with the Council. <br />Council for the bid alternates was as follows: <br />· Zinc alloy in lieu of metal panel on roofing <br />· Natural Stone rather than cast masonry unit <br /> Include wrought iron fence <br /> <br />The consensus of the <br /> <br />Councihnember Elvig indicated his name was on the approved bidders list for woodworking, but <br />he did not bid on the project. He expressed concern with Paul's Woodcraft Company being <br />utilized for this work. <br /> <br />Mr. Baxley suggested some sample construction pieces be done. He indicated this can be pushed <br />a little further to ensure they are getting the quality needed. <br /> <br />Ms. Badinger indicated an official packet with final numbers will be brought to the next Council <br />meeting. The Council action will include bids for the metal roofing and related sheet metal <br />section of the project to be rejected with authorization requested to go out for re-bid in this <br /> <br />City Council Work Session/May 17, 2005 <br /> Page 2 of 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
