18.2 Whenever an EMPLOYEE is injured on the job, such employee shall report the <br />injury to the EMPLOYEE'S supervisor immediately, if possible. The supervisor <br />shall, if reasonably possible, first secure needed medical aid for the injured <br />EMPLOYEE and then, shall promptly file an accident report with the appropriate <br />iisutance carrier giving full particulars. <br />18.3 The EMPLOYER shall furnish .to each of its EMPLOYEES conditions of <br />employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards, that are not <br />by nature characteristic hazards of the EMPLOYEE'S chosen profession, but are <br />causing or likely to cause death or serious injury or harm to its EMPLOYEES, <br />ARTICLE 19 DISCIPLINE <br />19.1 EMPLOYEES will be disciplined only for just cause. The seriousness or frequency <br />of misconduct will be factors in detetmining whether discharge rather than some <br />other disciplrnary action is warranted. <br />19.2 Disciplinary actions will be in the form of: <br />A. Oral reprimand; <br />B. Written reprimand; <br />C. Suspension; <br />D. Demotion; or <br />E. Discharge. <br />19.3 EMPLOYEES who reeeive awdtten reprimand or who are suspended, demoted, or <br />discharged shall have the right to appeal such disoiplinary actions through the <br />grievance procedure as established by ARTICLE 7 (EMPLOYBB Rights <br />Grievance Procedure). <br />19.4 Suspensions, demotions, and discharges shall be in uniting and shall specify the <br />charges, a copy of which shall be sent to the EMPLOYEE and the EMPLOYEE'S <br />personnel file. <br />19.5 Prior to discharging an EMPLOYEE who has completed the probation period, the <br />EMPLOYER shall notify the EMPLOYEE and the union, in writing, that .the <br />EMPLOYEE is to be discharged, the reason(s) therefore, the EMPLOYEE'S right <br />to a hearing in accordance with this Article and the effective date of the discharge. <br />The EMPLOYEE may request an opportunity to hear an explanation of the <br />evidence against him/her and to present his/her explanation of issues and <br />circumstances related to the EMPLOYEE'S discharge to the EMPLOYER'S <br />representative. The EMPLOYEE is entitled to union representation at such <br />meeting, upon request. The right of such meeting shall expire at the end of the next <br />scheduled work day of the EMPLOYEE after the notice of discharge is delivered <br />to the EMPLOYEE unless the EMPLOYER and EMPLOYEE agree otherwise. <br />The discharge shall not become effective during the period when the meeting may <br />
